Date: Saturday, January 28, 2012 Show Starts: 6:00 pm
With: Megafaun / Mount Moriah / The Beast
Tonite's show is currently sold out. HOWEVER! After the kids' program concludes, we may be able to let a limited number of people buy tickets for the remainder of the show, depending on how many of the parents and kids leave.
Central Park School for Children’s “Save Our Arts” Benefit is designed to support the arts education programs both at Central Park School and the greater Durham community.
The funds raised through Save Our Arts this year will be used to purchase art supplies and materials for classrooms; support arts based field trips for gallery visits, performances and workshops, as well as help to care for and maintain musical instruments used in our music classes. Last year we raised close to $9,000 and with these funds we were able to build and install a shelter to get our kiln up and running (purchased with funds from SOA 2011) as well as continue to support classroom art supplies, guest artist funding and purchase a large format laminator for preserving project work!
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 6pm until late night (doors open at 5:30), at Motorco Music Hall. Local artists, Megafaun, Mount Moriah and The Beast will provide entertainment. Poetry troop, Poetic Justice will also preform spoken work throughout the night. CPSC Student Bands will be coached by a few of the local bands listed above and will perform at the beginning of the night to kick off the event! Pie Pushers and KoKyu will be on hand to provide food.
Approximate starting times:
6:00-7:00 Student Bands
7:30-8:30 The Beast
8:45-9:45 Mount Moriah
with Poetry Readings in between from Poetic Justice
