After-party down on Rigsbee after the 6th Annual Empty Bowls benefit for Urban Ministries of Durham.

Funds raised through the Empty Bowls event will be designated to purchase food and other supplies for Urban Ministries’ Community Café. We all have something to give, and something to gain, from sharing in this journey together. We hope you will join us in reaching our goal of raising more than $30,000 to fill even more empty bowls.

In The Pocket is a student/adult collaborative ensemble at Durham Academy in Durham, NC. They specialize in many forms of popular music: jazz, rock, soul, R&B, blues, hip hop, funk, ’80s pop, with some pop and musical theatre thrown in for kicks.
The ensemble provides a truly interactive music education experience, as students are involved as equals in virtually all aspects of the music production, working with experienced adult musicians from the DA community.

Jahman Brahman is a four-member collaboration originating from Columbus, Ohio in 2005. They currently reside in the mountains of Asheville, NC. The name Jahman Brahman emerged from the band’s goal to achieve ultimate musical cohesion: each instrument a facet of a single greater goal to deliver music from the heart of one. The band strives to leave the listener with thoughts of love, life, and the wonders experienced while being part of an extraordinary musical family.

Shred ‘N’ Flow is how Jahman Brahman describes their unique style, meaning dynamic sound with a wide breadth of influence, but a focus on rich and fluid progressions of energy. Each member’s musical intuition and influences are unique. From Classic Rock to Electronica to Punk to Jazz, elements from many genres are found in the band’s music. As a result the band pioneers new sounds as the coalescence of their diverse styles unfolds into powerful jams and creative compositions.

Jo Gore and The Alternative is a R&B/Rock/Jazz jam band from the NC Triangle. Band members include: Jo Gore (lead vocals), Bakru Hunsel (drums), Bo Lankenau (Acoustic Guitar/Harmonica), Kip Perry (Upright and Electric Bass), and Steve Coon (lead guitar).

Flood Streets follows a group of creative malcontents as they struggle to find love, money and meaning in the surreal streets of post-flood New Orleans.

The Houston Chronicle gave it three out of four stars calling it “upbeat, amusing… Well-done and involving. There’s a big, raucous New Orleans soundtrack.” Film Threat calls it “a groovy cloud of dramatic tension… It resonates with power.”
