Creating and Solving Problems with Modular Synths
An action group is an assemblage of people who get together to solve a task, then disband once it’s been completed. For this project, a revolving door of collaborators jump in to solve a “musical problem.” Modular synthesizers are at the heart of it, but any instrument can be added to the mix. Solo and collectively, Action Group has performed in Germany, France, The Netherlands, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, The UK, Lithuania, Belgium, and various states in the US. Alex Maiolo (TRIPLE X SNAXXX, Themes For Great Cities) is the only invariable component, with Nick Williams usually in the mix. Mew’s Jonas Bjerre has been a regular collaborator, as well as Sean Thegen (aka Ultrabillions), and the incomparable Nils Gröndahl.
