WUNC’s Youth Reporting Institute hosts its annual public listening party on Thursday, August 8 at 7 PM at Motorco. This is a free event and will feature the first public airing of seven stories produced by WUNC’s Youth Reporting Team.
Each Summer WUNC hires a team of high school and college-aged students and asks them to produce a story that tells us something new about their community. This summer our Youth Reporters explored everything from the history of historic preservation in North Carolina and Warren County's first Black-owned grocery store to the impact of pedestrian-centered infrastructure for Durham communities.
While much of the reporting has been serious work, our Youth Team has also been having some fun. Earlier this summer they covered the Durham Book Club, and had the opportunity to build their journalism skills by shadowing our WUNC producers, engineers, and hosts. Join us for an evening of audio, art, and authenticity.
