Epstein-Barr Virus and Multiple Sclerosis: A New Discovery in Disease Development
Multiple sclerosis is a debilitating chronic autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Recently, researchers have shown that infection by Epstein-Barr Virus—the virus that causes mononucleosis—might be the key event that induces MS. Come hear how this realization has changed the way we think about MS and how we might go about treating it. Join us on Monday, October 15th, from 7 – 8 p.m. at Motorco Music Hall for this insightful discussion.
Speakers: Micah Luftig, PhD, Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Duke University and Elijah Austin Lackey, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology.
