MADRE CUMBIA — a historic collaboration between Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Fruko, and Carmelo Torres. More than an album, Madre Cumbia brings together the living roots of Colombian cumbia with the artists who have carried, transformed, and preserved its legacy across generations. From the ancestral sounds of the gaitas and drums to the accordion of the sabanas and the electric bass that helped redefine tropical music, this record celebrates the full arc of cumbia's evolution.

Together, these artists embody nearly every chapter of cumbia's recorded history—from its ceremonial Afro-Indigenous origins and rural accordion traditions to its electrification, international expansion, and enduring legacy. Madre Cumbia is more than a collaboration; it is a gathering of the musicians who have preserved, transformed, and carried one of Latin America's most important musical traditions across generations.

LOS GAITEROS DE SAN JACINTO
Latin Grammy Award-winning Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto represent one of Colombia's oldest continuously performed musical traditions. Their music preserves the ancestral dialogue between gaitas, drums, and voice that predates the commercial recording industry and has become synonymous with the very origins of cumbia. As custodians of an Afro-Indigenous musical heritage, they remain the definitive link to the genre's birthplace.

FRUKO
Fruko has been called "a one-man tropical orchestra" and few musicians have left a greater imprint on Colombian popular music. Often described as the Quincy Jones of Colombia, he served as the visionary producer behind the golden era of Discos Fuentes, helping define the sound of modern tropical music through groundbreaking recordings with Fruko y Sus Tesos, La Sonora Dinamita, Wganda Kenya, Afro Sound, Joe Arroyo, Wilson "Saoko" Manyoma, Edulfamid "Piper Pimienta" Diaz and countless others. His unmistakable bass playing, arrangements, and production reshaped Colombian salsa and cumbia, influencing generations of musicians throughout Latin America.

CARMELO TORRES
Latin Grammy Award-winning Carmelo Torres carries forward the accordion tradition born in Colombia's Caribbean plains. A direct heir to the cumbia sabanera lineage shaped by pioneers such as Andrés Landero, Torres is widely regarded as one of the last great acordeonistas gruesos—a powerful, deeply rhythmic style rooted in the same musical communities where cumbia first flourished. His decades of international touring have introduced this regional tradition to audiences around the world. His cultural significance was further recognized through the portrayal of Francisco el Hombre—the legendary accordionist who defeated the devil in a musical duel—in Episode 4 of Netflix's One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Our policies are the following:

• We will not offer refunds to any show unless there is a cancellation or postponement of the headlining act (opening acts subject to change without notice).
• For the safety of people at the Event, the venue management and the Organiser reserve the right to refuse admission and conduct security searches as they deem appropriate.
• We reserve the right to refuse admission or to eject any person appearing to be intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, showing signs of COVID-19 including a high temperature or a persistent cough, refusing to wear a mask when required to do so, otherwise behaving dangerously or inappropriately, or for any other behavior likely to cause damage, injury, nuisance and annoyance or for failure to comply with the reasonable request of our staff.
• We do not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property brought to the Event.
• We request - but do not currently require - that everyone attending a show be vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Do not attend any event if experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough or loss of taste/smell
• We suggest the patrons wear masks in the indoor spaces at Motorco and Parts&Labor
