Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Katelyn Tarver fearlessly dives into life’s complex questions through her music. Her sophomore album, released early 2024, offers a captivating and meditative account of navigating her early thirties, delving into the troubles that are often kept hidden: imposter syndrome, struggles with self-worth, fear of the unknown, and the anxiety of perfectionism. Through her collaboration with producer Chad Copelin (LANY, Sasha Sloan), Tarver brings greater candor to her unsparing introspection. With her crystalline voice and gorgeously airy indie-pop sound, Tarver’s forthcoming record creates a space for listeners to engage in profound self-reflection, potentially leading to a more open-hearted and free-spirited perspective on their own life journeys.
After getting her start performing in prestigious talent competitions as a child growing up in Glennville, Georgia (a tiny rural town where her family owned a candy factory), Tarver moved to Los Angeles at age 19 to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. In 2014, Tarver experienced a breakthrough when “Crazy Stupid Love” (a song she’d co-written for British pop star Cheryl Cole) shot to #1 on the UK Singles Chart. Katelyn went on to release a pair of EPs, 2018’s Kool Aid and 2017’s Tired Eyes, which features her viral hit single “You Don’t Know,” that has over 66M views on YouTube. Also an actress, Tarver made her TV debut with a recurring role on Nickelodeon’s “Big Time Rush,” followed by a reoccurring role in season four of HBO’s “Ballers.” In late 2021, Tarver released her debut album, Subject To Change, which received praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR, SPIN, Consequence, American Songwriter, and more. She was featured as the cover artist for Spotify’s star-making “Chill Pop” playlist and had multiple tracks placed in the pole positions across Apple Music playlists. To support the album, she hit the road with her band in 2022, opening for the likes of James Bay, Michelle Branch, Nina Nesbitt, and Johnnyswim. Katelyn Tarver headlined her first US and European tour in September 2023.
